Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Capself at https://capself.co, auth.capself.co, or related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Capself is a Personal Development Operating System (PDOS) — a long-term development partner that helps you become who you want to become through self-awareness, reflection, accountability, goal tracking, habit building, and AI-assisted guidance.

Capself is not a generic chatbot, licensed therapy platform, medical service, financial advisory service, or legal service.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Capself. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

4. Accounts & Authentication

Authentication is handled at auth.capself.co. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately of unauthorized access at support@capself.co.

You may sign in via Google OAuth or email magic link. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it current.

5. AI Disclaimer

Capself uses artificial intelligence to support your personal development journey. AI responses are generated by third-party models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your specific situation.

• Capself AI does not provide medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice
• Do not rely on AI responses for crisis situations — contact emergency services or a qualified professional
• You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on AI guidance
• Always verify important information with your own judgment and qualified professionals where appropriate

6. Faith-Aware Features

Capself offers optional faith-aware modes (General, Islamic, Christian). These modes adjust guidance contextually. Capself respects your beliefs and never forces religious perspectives. Faith content is supportive, not doctrinal authority.

7. Your Content & Data

You retain ownership of content you submit (journals, reflections, goals, etc.). You grant Capself a limited license to process your content solely to provide and improve the Service for you personally.

Your personal knowledge graph is isolated to your account. No user's data is used to train models that affect other users.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful purposes
• Attempt to access other users' data
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the API
• Upload malicious code or spam the Service
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate others
• Use the Service to generate harmful, abusive, or exploitative content

9. Subscriptions & Payments

Capself offers Free, Pro, Founding Member, and Yearly plans as described on our Pricing page.

Paid subscriptions are processed by third-party payment providers (including Paystack and Lemon Squeezy). By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges at the displayed rate until you cancel.

• You may cancel at any time; access continues until period end
• Refunds are handled per our refund policy below
• We may change pricing with 30 days' notice to active subscribers

Refund Policy

Founding and beta pricing is offered in good faith. Refund requests within 7 days of initial purchase may be considered on a case-by-case basis by contacting support@capself.co. No refunds for partial subscription periods after 7 days unless required by applicable law.

10. Free Preview

Unauthenticated users may ask up to 3 preview questions at /chat. Preview conversations are not stored long-term and are subject to free AI model limitations disclosed in-product.

11. Intellectual Property

Capself, its branding, software, design, and proprietary frameworks are owned by Capself and protected by intellectual property laws. Book learning principles are stored as summaries — we do not reproduce copyrighted works.

12. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for Terms violations or abuse. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Data deletion follows our Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE SERVICE.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CAPSELF SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict of law principles. For users in the EEA/UK, mandatory consumer protection rights in your country of residence apply where they cannot be waived.

Disputes shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation via legal@capself.co. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes may be submitted to competent courts in Nigeria or your jurisdiction where mandatory consumer laws require local jurisdiction.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
