Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

BlindspotLab ("BlindspotLab," "we," "us," or "our") operates Capself at https://capself.co and https://auth.capself.co(the "Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation, and "you" includes the organisation.

2. Description of Service

Capself is a Personal Development Operating System (PDOS), software to support reflection, goals, habits, and AI-assisted personal development guidance over time.

Capself is not a licensed medical, mental-health, therapy, financial, or legal service. It does not create a professional-client relationship of any kind. AI output is informational only and may be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation.

3. Eligibility & Age

You must be at least 16 years old to use Capself, or older if your local law requires a higher minimum age. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and have legal capacity to enter into these Terms where you live.

If you are using the Service where parental or guardian consent is required for minors, you represent that such consent has been obtained.

4. Accounts & Security

You may sign in via Google OAuth or email magic link. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Notify us promptly of suspected unauthorised access at support@capself.co.

You agree to provide accurate registration information and to update it when it changes.

5. AI & Health Disclaimer

The Service uses artificial intelligence through OpenRouter and third-party model providers. You acknowledge that:

• AI responses may be inaccurate, biased, or inappropriate
• Capself does not provide medical, psychological, crisis, financial, or legal advice
• Do not use the Service for emergencies. Contact local emergency services or a qualified professional
• You alone are responsible for decisions and actions you take based on AI output or Service content

6. Faith-Aware Features

Optional faith-aware modes (General, Islamic, Christian) adjust contextual guidance. They are supportive tools, not religious authority, counselling, or doctrine. You choose whether to use them.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant BlindspotLab a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, and display your content solely to operate the Service for you, including sending relevant portions to AI providers to fulfil your requests.

You represent that you have the right to submit your content and that it does not violate law or third-party rights. You must not submit content you do not have permission to share.

On our systems, your account data is kept separate from other users. We do not use your private content to train models that serve other users, as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Violate applicable laws or regulations in your jurisdiction
• Access or attempt to access other users' data
• Probe, scan, scrape, or overload the Service without permission
• Reverse engineer or circumvent security or access controls
• Transmit malware, spam, or disruptive code
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
• Use the Service to create, promote, or store illegal, exploitative, harassing, or violent material
• Circumvent payment requirements or usage limits

We may investigate suspected violations and cooperate with law enforcement or regulators where we are legally required or reasonably believe it is necessary to protect people, the Service, or BlindspotLab.

9. Plans, Billing & Paystack

Current plans are described on our Pricing page: Free, Founding Member, and Yearly.

Paid access is processed by Paystack using recurring subscription plans. A successful payment activates access for the stated billing period (1, 3, or 6 months for Founding Member; 12 months for Yearly) and renews automatically unless you cancel before the next billing date.

Automatic renewal & cancellation

By subscribing, you authorize Paystack to charge your payment method at each renewal for the plan you selected. You may cancel auto-renewal at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future charges but does not refund the current period; you keep paid access until the end of the billing period already paid for.

Failed payments

If a renewal charge fails, your subscription is marked past due and Paystack may retry the charge on its own schedule. We do not run separate retry logic. You keep paid access for a 5-day grace period from the failed charge. If payment has not succeeded by the end of that grace period, your account downgrades to the Free plan unless you update your payment method and a charge succeeds before access ends.

• Listed prices are in USD; checkout may be processed in NGN
• Taxes may apply depending on your location and Paystack's rules
• Complimentary access may be offered separately at our discretion
• We may change prices for future purchases with reasonable notice

Refunds

Except where mandatory consumer law requires otherwise, paid fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period has started. We may, at our discretion, consider refund requests made within 7 days of a first paid purchase by contacting support@capself.co.

10. Free Preview

Unauthenticated users may ask up to three preview questions at /chat. Preview sessions are limited, may use restricted models, and are not stored as a full account history unless you register.

11. Intellectual Property

The Service, including software, branding, design, and documentation, is owned by BlindspotLab or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for personal development purposes in line with these Terms.

Book-learning content in Capself is presented as summaries and principles, not as reproduction of copyrighted works.

12. Suspension & Termination

By you: You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through account settings. Deletion is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

By us: We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, create risk for other users or BlindspotLab, fail to pay for purchased access, or if we must do so to comply with law. Where reasonable, we will give notice; serious violations may result in immediate action.

Sections that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, liability limits, governing law, and dispute provisions) continue after termination.

13. Regional Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms removes rights you have under mandatory consumer or data-protection laws where you live.

Nigeria

If you are a consumer in Nigeria, applicable Nigerian consumer protection and data protection laws may give you rights that cannot be waived by contract. Contact legal@capself.co with concerns.

European Economic Area & United Kingdom

If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from certain distance contracts within 14 days. For digital services that begin immediately at your request, local law may require that you acknowledge loss of the withdrawal right once performance starts. If a withdrawal right applies and is not lawfully waived, we will honour it as required.

Mandatory EU/UK consumer protections regarding unfair terms, conformity of digital services, and dispute resolution remain unaffected.

United States

Some US states provide non-waivable consumer rights. To the extent a limitation in these Terms is prohibited in your state, it does not apply to you.

Other regions

Users in Canada, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Kenya, and elsewhere may have local consumer or privacy rights. We will respect mandatory local protections that apply to BlindspotLab and the Service.

14. Disclaimers

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PURPOSE.

Personal development outcomes depend on your own effort and circumstances. We do not guarantee any particular result from using Capself.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BlindspotLab AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OUTCOMES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID BlindspotLab FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits. In those cases, our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation is unlawful, or for fraud or intentional misconduct.

16. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless BlindspotLab from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights, except where caused by our intentional misconduct or where indemnity is not permitted by your local consumer laws.

17. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would apply another country's laws.BlindspotLab is based in Nigeria.

Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to contact us at legal@capself.co and attempt good-faith resolution for at least 30 days.

Subject to mandatory consumer protections, disputes may be brought in the courts of Nigeria with competent jurisdiction, or in courts in your country of residence where local law requires that forum.

18. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in the Service where practicable at least 14 days before they take effect, unless a shorter period is required by law or for security/legal reasons. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and delete your account. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where your local law requires a different process.

19. Severability & Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and BlindspotLabregarding the Service, except for any additional terms that apply to specific paid features we clearly present at purchase.
